Smalley Relationship Center
In 1979, Gary & Norma Smalley were encouraged to begin an organization focused on helping families. After the formation of a board, they launched the CMI organization out of Waco, Texas. A few years later they moved to Phoenix, Arizona and Gary spoke in places all over the country. Gary co-authored two books with Steve Scott during that time titled, If Only He Knew and For Better or For Best. Those books have sold over one million copies each and have become marriage classics.
In 1985, the organization's name became Today's Family. That year, Gary and Norma hired more staff to enlarge their reach around the country.
In 1988, Gary partnered with American Telecast's Steve Scott and they launched a nation-wide infomercial with Dick Clark as the host of a half-hour television program. That infomercial was re-introduced in 1990 and 1992 through John Tesh & Connie Sellecca and then Frank & Kathie Lee Gifford. The series sold over four million tapes.
Since those early years, Gary Smalley has become one of the country's best-known authors and speakers on family relationships. He is the author and co-author of 28 best-selling, award-winning books along with several popular films and videos. He has spent over 35 years learning, teaching, and counseling. Gary has personally interviewed hundreds of singles and couples and has surveyed thousands of people at his seminars asking two questions: What is it that strengthens your relationships and what weakens them?
Gary's 28 books combined have sold over 6 million copies. Several of them have even been translated into different languages. The Blessing and The Two Sides of Love have won the Gold Medallion Award for excellence in literature. The Language of Love won the Angel Award as the best contribution to family life. All other titles have been top-five finalists for the Gold Medallion Award.
In the last 35 years Gary has spoken to over two million people in live conferences. He has been presenting his live two-day marriage seminars, once a month for the last twenty years. Over one million people have attended Gary's live presentations. His award-winning infomercial "Hidden Keys to Loving Relationships" has appeared to television audiences all over the world.
